West Coast Swing on Wednesdays

modified:  Rich Cooper concludes his month-long series of Wednesday night West Coast Swing lessons this week. Rich is a recent competitor at the U.S. Open, and in addition to teaching West Coast Swing, also teaches a newer dance called Swango.

Last week men were the focus. Rich took a basic pattern, the left side pass, and showed how it could be enhanced with an in/out turn. Continuing with the concept, he had the men change hands and lead a similar pattern with a right to left hand hold. Adding to this, he had them lead the pattern again (opposite hand hold) and lead a continuous in/out turn ending with a release.

For the final lesson, the focus will be on whips and variations of the whips for both leads and follows.

In the past, the volunteers have made this event successful. If you can lend a helping hand, contact Tobi Oberman, who needs folks to register attendees, monitor doors, decorate, score, etc. She critically needs strong men/women to set-up and tear-down dance floors. If you can contribute in ANY way, contact Tobi and she will optimize your talents and gifts!

Additional event information is available online, as well as the option to register online, or to download the form and mail it in.  While looking at the web site, be sure to check out the Photo Gallery under Da Dance Camp to see pictures of last year’s event.
