new:  SNC Dances in Independence Day Parade

It was a perfect day for marching (oops…dancing) in suburban Oakbrook Terrace, with a Cooper-mobile decorated in red, white and blue streamers and our club banner.  About 20 members and friends wore SNC t-shirts and danced along the parade route, passing out flyers and candy to onlookers.

Get a detailed look at the festivities and plan to join the SNC Parade Team next year!

Ronnie and Brandi on So You Think You Can Dance

Ronnie DeBendetta and Brandi Tobias, the No. 1 Country Couple, have choreographed a Two Step for one of the couples on SYTYCD (So You Think You Can Dance).   Be sure to watch Fox at 7:00 pm Central Time on Wednesday, July 16 and, more importantly, VOTE.   Let’s show how strongly we feel about our dances!   Note:  Our Happenings blast on Saturday gave the time as Eastern time zone.

Thursday:  Get a leg up on the fun and help build Chicago.  We have a great general contractor to direct the construction (of the skyline); we need some workers!  Afraid of heights?  Try laying the floor!  “Pay” for working the jobsite is food, liquid refreshment, and other clever perks!

Friday:  Do you know how to say “workshops”?  Lots of ‘em?  Over 50 workshops are available for your learning pleasure, most of them free.  Friday afternoon features competition for all upper-level Pro Am dancers.  In the evening, Classic Division I and Showcase dancers strut their stuff, followed by Pro Am Swing and Hustle.  Don’t miss the traditional SNC-sponsored pizza party at 10:00 pm!  For late night dancers, Preliminary Swing Jack & Jill’s dance at 11:00 pm followed by late night dancing till you drop.

Saturday:  Get up early, because competition begins at 8:30 am, and workshops begin at 9:00 am.  The evening program features exhibitions, solos, and the Classic Open Swing Challenge.  Swing Jack & Jill finals will precede more of that late night dancing…till the cows come home.

Sunday:  If you still have the energy, take a few more workshops or check out awards for Pro Am and Line Dance and enjoy the Couples divisions later in the day.  Pro-Am Spotlight and Strictly Swing will complete the afternoon, followed by more awards.  Eyes still open?  You haven’t danced enough!
