Two Step with Don Leynes

 

modified:  Don Leynes, assisted by Julie Hein, continues teaching Two Step.    The first Wednesday lessons, as well as last Friday’s lesson, were both hugely applauded by the Beginners and Intermediates.   Jump in anytime.    Don has a tremendous amount of knowledge to share while Julie will explain the fine point detail of his creativness.

Hustle Lesson with Angie Cameron on Friday, September 19

Angie Cameron, accomplished Hustle and West Coast Swing dancer, comes to SNC to teach a Hustle lesson. Among her many wins in dance competition, one of the crowning achievements is her win at the 2007 US Open Jack n Jill competition.

·        Friday, October 3:  The weekend begins by Kristin and Monty teaching Two Step at Swing ‘n’ Country’s Friday night dance.  Both will be available for private lessons during the day.

·        Saturday, October 4: Three workshops at the The Centre at North Park will include Two Step, Night Club and West Coast Swing. They will be held at 2:00 pm, 3:15 pm and 4:30 pm.

·        Sunday, October 5:     Private lessons available.

Happenings will provide workshop registration forms as soon as available.  The lesson cost for Friday night is $10.   Saturday workshops are $12 or three for $30.  (details)

new:  DaDance Camp Has a New Name

The Swing ‘n’ Country event that celebrated its tenth anniversary last year has been renamed Dance Camp Chicago.   Although a long way off (February 20-22, 2009) a registration form and a flyer have already been created by SNC’s early planners.  There will be more to this event than just a new name!

September 12:  Friday.  X Dance holds a dance at The Centre at North Park, 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park, IL 60131.  Doors open at 7:00 pm, with a lesson at 8:00 pm.  General dancing runs from 9:00 pm until midnight with April Prince as your DJ.  (map)

September 20:     Saturday.   The Chicago Rebels hold a dance at The Centre at North Park 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park.  Lessons are from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Nancy Tuzzolino, followed by open dancing until midnight. (map)

September 20:  Saturday.   Heart Sole Dance sponsors a “Back to School” Dance at Diamond Dancesport, 7767 W. 96th Place, Hickory Hills, IL 60457.    Following a Two Step lesson at 8:00 pm., there will be general dancing until midnight.  (map)

new September 24:  Wednesday.   Heart Sole Dance sponsors its third Dinner, Dancing and Drinks night including an All You Can East Pizza Buffet @ Vita & Nicks II, a Dance Lesson and a specialty nightcap @ Intimo Martini.   These facilities are steps away from each other in the Tinley Point Plaza, 7050 183rd Street, Tinley Park, Illinois 60477. September 25 – 29: Thursday – Monday.

 

Jordan Frisbee & Tatiana Mollman In Chicago. They are the #1 West Coast Swing couple in the world, and they will be in Chicago from Thursday, Sept. 25th to Monday, Sept. 29th.  All activities will be held at The Centre at North Park.

 

 

  • Thursday, September 25: Private lessons are available in the afternoon and early evening.
  • Friday, September 26: - Private lessons are available in the afternoon; Jordan and Tatiana will teach at X-Dance in the evening.
  • Saturday, September 27: - Four awesome and different West Coast Swing workshops will be taught with lunch provided Christopher Hussey and Katrina Branson style. That night, there’s open dancing with a great show! 
  • Sunday, September 28:  - Private lessons are available in the afternoon and a special VIP workshop that night, geared toward the competitive dancer.

September 27:  Saturday.  Brian Wong, editor of Chicago Dance News, hosts a Double Dance at Ballroom City, 207 Villa Avenue, Villa Park, Illinois 60181.   Both Swing and Country music will be played.   Double Dance is held the on the last Saturday of each month.  (map)

new:  October 11-12:  Chicago Country Music Festival Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois.   Live concerts on three stages and two tents running simultaneously are free.

new:  October 31 – November 2:  Swing City Chicago.  Westin, Lombard, Illinois.  Event Directors:  Maren Oslac, Jeff Sanchez and Julie Hein.  A returning feature is “So You Think You Can Dance with the All Stars.”….. A ten-minute session with an All Star of your choice with the topic of your choice and proceeds going to charity.  The event begins on Halloween. You guessed it!   There will be prizes for best costumes. (details)

September 12-14:   Music City Swing Dance Championships.  Sheraton Music City Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee.  World Swing Dance Council and AANCE (Novice) Tour sanctioned.  Featured instructors include some Chicago area favorites:  Christopher Hussey and Katrina Branson as well as Maren Oslac.  “Girls Gone Wild” is being offered as a ladies-only sexy styling workshop with Jennifer DeLuca and Erica Berg.
