new:  Thank You and a Second Opportunity

Our Swing ‘n’ Country dancers were very generous at last Friday’s dance, contributing 38 unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots.  We’ll make another collection at this Friday’s Holiday Dance.  Ann Clark chairs this cause for SNC and will bring our donations to the Marine Corp’s drop off point.

new:  Did you Know?

Don Leynes, who has taught superb lessons at SNC, is also an excellent writer.   Following is an excerpt of Don’s essay on dance relationships.  He recently published some of his works on Facebook.

Dancing in itself is an expression of emotion, of thought, of feelings put into a tangible form via music and physical coordination. For the individual dancer, it is the inner id coming out, controlling the flow, directing the energy, creating the magic. But put in the context of a partnership, it becomes much more. At the very base, it is two people connecting, becoming a unit, matching line for line, a symbiosis, each needing the other so that both may shine. But it takes hard work and dedication. There are pitfalls to such a relationship, and though it may seem calm and pristine on the surface, there are deeper emotions involved. Practice can be hell on a relationship, and for those whose passion is dance, perfection has its price. It may cost you your friend, your dance partner, your love -- and even your love for the dance.”

new:  Another Thank You

SNC thanks Jill Popovich for her month long series of Night Club lessons.  You can see more of Jill on Global Dance TV in segments called “Health Notes”.   Check it out.
