Dear Roger,

SNC's 2011-2012 Board of Directors
Will be introduced at April 1, 2011 Dance

Come meet and greet  your new board of directors at Swing 'n' Country's April 1st dance.

April 2011 is Cha Cha Lesson Month
Wednesday lessons:  April 6, 13, 20, 27
Friday Dance:  April 1

Don and Dolly

Yes, this is Don Macdonald with Dolly Parton to your left.  When was this  photo taken?     Did he actually coach Dolly?  Perhaps Don can tell you at Friday's dance.

Both learning from Don and watching him dance are absolute delights.  You'll be amazed at his smooth and very Cuban motion.  (from the editor, Wish I could do that!)  You'll see why Don has taken many amateurs to world championship levels of dance.

All Swing 'n' Country lessons and dances are held at The Centre at North Park, Franklin Park.  (map)

New Board Member Alisa Winkler
Will  teach Waltz at our April 15 Dance Alisa

Alisa Winkler has a teaching and competitive background in both the swing and country venues.  She enjoys seeing her students grow through strong basics.

This will be Alisa's first month on SNC's new board of directors.   Let's welcome her back as an  instructor at the same time present her with  kudos that recognize  her  new contribution to our Club.

Watch Alisa compete at Chicagoland's J&J All Stars in 2010.

Happynings No 1:

Julie and Josh welcome home Matt

 Matt Hein

Matt Hein returned home from Tokyo on Tuesday, March 22.  The entire dance community had beenwaiting and praying for his safe return.
Matt asks that we continue to remember those still struggling in Japan by contributing through any number of organizations who are working to help the tens of thousands of earthquake victims.
The American Red Cross has a site set up specific to the Japan earthquake and Pacific Tsunami victims.  Project Hope is another agency helping those left with nothing.
Happynings No 2:Flash Mob
Flash Mob at The Chicago Bulls
After months of preparation, west  swing dancers from the Chicago area performed "Flash Mob" at The Chicago Bulls game on Monday, March 21.
From one of the participants:

"A special thanks to Julie for her tireless efforts to keep us motivated to learn the dance, to build our confidence even when not "perfect ".

Thanks to you and everyone who helped us; from t-shirt order, delivery not to mention interface with Bulls management, as well as managing our group; Alfred, the couples grid was a FAB success.  You all did an amazing job of group management: busses, lunches, tickets, seating, got us on to the floor, and ultimately perform - last night at the Bulls game. "

.... Here's the YouTube link.   We'll be getting a Bull's professional version shortly.
